FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

Do ear seeds work?

A traditional Chinese pressure point therapy related to acupuncture, ear seeds are a less invasive way to unblock qi meridians to relieve pain and promote general well-being. Although few studies have been completed in the successful use of auriculotherapy, or the practice of ear-related treatments, scientific research has shown multiple benefits in its use to treat certain conditions like insomnia, lower back pain, obesity and migraines

Where to place ear seeds for weight loss?

Whether using traditional acupuncture needles or ear seeds, the auricular points targeted remain the same.

  1. The Shenmen Point
  2. The Constipation Point
  3. The Stomach Point
  4. The Hunger Point
  5. The Endocrine Point
  6. The Brain Point

What is the difference between acupuncture and dry needling?

Although seemingly similar, acupuncture and dry needling are two very different treatments. Acupuncture is based on the ancient Chinese practice of placing needles along ‘meridian’ lines intended to connect the body’s internal organs and other systems. This process is believed to restore balance and proper flow of energy throughout the body and is used to treat internal ailments like digestive disorders, stress, and chronic pain.

Dry needling however was developed in the 1980s based on modern Western medicine. Dry needles are inserted into trigger points or tender bands of muscle located within larger muscles which then triggers a release response and returns the targeted area to normal function. Dry needling is traditionally used to resolve both acute and chronic pain without the need for surgical or medicinal intervention.

How long should acupuncture tacks remain in place?

Acupuncture tacks are often used as an alternative therapy or a continuation of treatment and may remain in place anywhere from a few hours to multiple days. Body and ear tack therapies provide the unique benefit of repetitive and ongoing healing opportunities for patients with time constraints or with long-term needs.
