What are the benefits of seaweed body wraps?

What is a spa body wrap?
A spa body wrap is a treatment used to improve the appearance of the skin through cleansing, detoxification and hydration as well as to restore relaxation. Although a number of unique body wraps are available in spas around the world, the most common ingredients include seaweed or algae products, mud or clay masks, thermoplastic sheeting and/or mylar blankets. The treatment begins with an all-over exfoliation using a body polish, salt or sugar scrub, or dry brushing technique followed by the cocooning process with the wrap’s signature ingredients, a vichy shower or cleansing of the skin, and finally, an application of moisturizer. Upon completion, a spa body wrap will leave you feeling fresh, hydrated and revitalized.
What is a mylar blanket?
Mylar blankets are used in body wrap treatments to keep retain up to 90 percent of body heat. Consisting of reflective insulation, these blankets work by reflecting the body’s own heat back towards itself.
What is an herbal bath?
Herbal baths are an all-natural way to reduce stress and soothe the skin. As different herbs are known for a host of different therapeutic benefits, herbal baths can benefit a variety of ailments and conditions including skin smoothing and softening, soothing muscles, stimulating circulation, or even fighting infection. To create an herbal bath, follow a few simple steps:
- Use a sachet or cloth bag to hold the herbs of your choice; experiment with different mixes to heighten the experience and effectiveness of the bath
- Draw a bath of warm water and place the sachet in the water
- Soak for a minimum of 10 minutes for maximum effect
